Safety protection during polyurea construction

The chemical raw materials used in polyurea technology have certain toxicity. If safety and protection are not paid attention to during polyurea spraying construction, it is likely to cause some adverse symptoms for construction personnel. Due to the high temperature of materials (usually around 60 ℃) and splashing during polyurea spraying construction, construction personnel must take personal safety measures.

(1) Protect your eyes. Chemical safety goggles should be worn when spraying may come into contact with mist.

(2) Protect the respiratory system. During the spraying process, a large amount of mist will be generated, which can irritate the respiratory tract. Therefore, construction personnel should wear certified respiratory protective equipment during the construction process.

(3) Skin protection. Due to the small particles formed by the solidification of splashed mist during the spraying process, they can easily come into contact with the skin, hair, clothes, shoes, and socks of construction workers. Although they do not cause harm, they are not easy to remove, so necessary protective measures still need to be taken for the body. For hand protection, chemical gloves such as chloroprene rubber, nitrile rubber, butyl rubber gloves, etc. can be worn. For foot protection, plastic or cloth shoe covers can be placed directly on the outside of the shoes, or chemical resistant boots can be worn. For body protection, general one-piece protective work clothes should be worn, which not only protects the clothes worn by construction personnel from contamination, but also protects the head.

There are other hazards in polyurea spraying construction. For example, when the spraying machine is started, noise may cause hearing impairment. When working at heights, pay attention to wearing a safety belt, pay attention to fire and explosion prevention during construction in enclosed areas, and wear a safety helmet when entering the construction site.

First aid measures

If production or construction personnel feel unwell, they should immediately inquire about drug recommendations, and if possible, display material safety data.

(1) Inhalation: Evacuate the patient from the site, let them rest in a warm place, and receive medication treatment. The treatment mainly targets severe inflammation or breathing difficulties. If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be taken care of by a professional. When breathing stops or stops, artificial respiration rescue should be performed.

(2) Skin contact: Replace contaminated clothing, thoroughly clean contaminated areas with water and soap. If there is inflammation, redness, or burning sensation, medication should be given. Before reusing contaminated clothing, it should be thoroughly cleaned.

(3) Eye contact: Immediately rinse with flowing water above the eyes, and open the eyes when rinsing. If the inflammation does not disappear, it should be repeatedly rinsed and immediately treated with medication.

(4) Ingestion: Do not vomit. Keep the patient awake, rinse their mouth first, then drink 1-2 cups of water, and take medication quickly.

Construction fire and explosion prevention.

Polyurea technology adopts low-temperature (construction temperature not exceeding 70 ℃) construction spraying technology, with a solid content of 100% and no volatile components in the raw materials. Therefore, unlike other coatings, they are accompanied by a large amount of solvent evaporation during the construction process. These flammable substances will burn in the high temperature, open flames, impact sparks, electric sparks, static electricity, etc. of the coating site. The emergence of materials has greatly reduced this harm and is a major innovation in coating technology. However, in order to ensure safe construction, some preventive measures are still needed.

(1) Eliminate ignition sources. Smoking is strictly prohibited in indoor spraying and outdoor work areas, and carrying matches, lighters, and other kindling materials is strictly prohibited. It is strictly prohibited to use open flames and flammable equipment.

(2) The construction site is well ventilated. During indoor spraying, a specific cleaning agent should be used to clean the spray gun after each spraying. The spray gun cleaning agent is a volatile, flammable, and explosive solvent.

When constructing indoor polyurea, attention must be paid to ensuring good ventilation. The solvent evaporation concentration control at the polyurea construction site shall not exceed the specified standards, and it is strictly prohibited for the solvent to come into contact with high temperatures to prevent open flames from burning.
